DOID Lookup Procedure
Submitted by: Kally_Lunch

When a PortaZone has a visible border, you can click on the "About" tag to see who owns it.  But in most cases, PortaZone borders are hidden by the owner.  You can still find out who the owner is, however, by looking up the PortaZone's DOID (Distributed Object ID).  This is a useful tool, especially if you are being griefed with a PortaZone.

- Walk into the PortaZone and look at any of the objects.  Items in a PortaZone share the zone's DOID as if all were one item.

- Press CTRL+SHIFT+D.  You'll see a lot of black boxes hovering over items with white numbers.  These are DOID numbers.

- Open the browser (There > Browser) and copy/paste in this URL:  http://webapps.prod.there.com/about/about?doid=

At the end of the URL, after the "doid=", type in the number of one of the PortaZone objects, then hit your Enter key.  You will be taken to the zone's "About" page, showing the owner's name.  The procedure works for any object that has an "About" page (some objects, like the ground, don't have "About" pages).

If you have the Bedican Compass, you can also click on "Lookup", enter the DOID number, and click Go. You'll be taken to the owner's profile.

(Additional note by Bedicus, re: the Bedican Compass...)

Care should be taken when performing an owner lookup, as anything other than a true server value (the "about" tag) may give erroneous results.  This is due to an old bug whereby owner information on an object was not changed correctly with regards to the client when performing a 'Give' operation"
