Home and zone owners, you can decorate your spaces just the way you like with a wide variety of furniture pieces, knickknacks, plants, rugs and other home improvement items. Find Home & Garden items in the Auctions and then use your imagination to create any combination and layout you want!
To decorate your House or Zone:
- Enter your house or clubhouse and select "Show Decorate Tags" from your This Place menu.
- To drop a piece, select it from your This Place > Gear menu. Choose "Take one out" and the piece will "float" in front of your avatar at arm's length. Walk around until you find the perfect spot and select "Drop." Your furniture will appear right in that spot! To move it to another spot, select "Pick Up" and the piece will again "float" in front of you.
- Where you look affects the height from which your object will fall. When you look up, an object will drop from above, landing on the first surface it encounters; when you look down, objects will "drop" from below, landing either on the floor or on low tables. If you're looking straight ahead (in the default standing position), your object will drop from eye level, landing on the first surface it encounters.
- To control where your avatar looks, either hold down the Ctrl key and move your mouse, or go into Action Mode (go to your There menu at the bottom of your screen > Customize > World > Default to Action Mode) and move your mouse.
- When placing small objects (like plants and knickknacks), try the first person view (in the Views menu).
- Once an item has been picked up you can raise and lower the item with the (+) and (-) key on your desktop’s numerical keypad. To raise the item click +. To lower the item click -. You can adjust the positioning with these small “nudges” until you’re satisfied with its location. When you’ve got the item exactly where you want it, click Place Here.
- There keeps track of your drop count automatically. To check how many drops you have left at any given time, visit your Zone and go to your Menu Bar > This Place > Gear. The amount of remaining drops will be displayed in the Gear menu.
- When you are done decorating, select "Hide Decorate Tags."
Tips for Lots, Neighborhood Zones, FrontierZone and PortaZone:
- Use a HoverPack to decorate hard to reach spots!
- When placing large objects in a zone (like the Builder Set pieces), try the low aerial zoom view (in the Views menu).
- Builder Sets, Landscape Sets and the like can only be used in one zone or house at a time. For example, if you place the Pink Flamingo from your Patio Set in one PortaZone, you cannot place the Umbrella from the same set in a different PortaZone (or any other house or zone that you're renting).
- Freeze Layout lets you freeze (save) items in a particular spot. For example if you have an item hovering in the air, you can choose the Freeze option to save it in that location.
