Dogs are lots of fun and good company. You can play with other people's dogs or you can own your own dog and choose from different colors and breeds at the Dog Store outside Maidenflight. Once you purchase a dog, it will appear in your My Things menu at the bottom of your screen. To let the dog into the world, choose My Things > Dog > From Doghouse. To give your dog a name, My Things > Dog > Rename. Playing with Dogs
Dogs in There, like their real-world counterparts, are by nature friendly and playful. Move your cursor over a dog and click Pet on the Action Tag to pet the dog.
If you own a dog, you can send it on a visit to someone you know -- it's a great way to meet someone. Click Send on the dog's Action Tag. You will choose the person you wish to send the dog to in the information window that appears. Click the Send button and your dog will run over to greet them. It may stick around and play, or it may come back to you -- it does have a mind of its own, after all!
Giving a Dog a Treat
Several varieties of dog treats are available from the Shop Central, and each one will make the dog do something different. Bags hold 15 treats and will decrease every time you toss a treat, whether the dog catches it or not.
- From the menu bar at the bottom of your screen select My Things > Dog Treats > Hold. The bag will appear in your hand.
- To throw a treat, click Toss Treat on the bag's Action Tag. You can also hold the Control button down as you click the left mouse button to toss a treat. The treat will go to the dog you are looking at.
- To put the bag away, select My Things > Dog Treats > Put Away.
- To throw the bag away select My Things > Dog Treats > Discard.
- To give a bag of treats to another member select My > Dog Treats > Give. Choose a name from the window that appears and click the Give button.
Teaching a Dog Tricks There are many commands that your dog will recognize. Try them with your dog, or someone else's dog. Your dog's behavior will not be perfect; there may be some variation in its response depending on your dog's mood, or distractions on the area.
To give a command, just type the word into a chat balloon and hit Enter. You can also call your dog by typing its name into a chat balloon. Here are some commands to try:
Sit | Stay | Good | Nice | Come | Here | Bad | Speak | Lie | Shutup | Go | Heel | Jump | Beg | Bark | Up | Down | Walk | Run | Stupid | Back | Kill
There also are secret advanced commands that your dog can learn. Experiment, and talk with other dog owners to learn what your dogs can do!
More Fun Things to do with your Dog
You can get your dog to jump over objects. Just get your dog to one side of the obstacle (the log barrier works the best) and tell it to sit. Then go around to the other side and say Come. As your dog approaches the obstacle, say jump. Your dog will jump over it. It takes some practice to get this right - if you say jump at the wrong moment, your dog will do a super jump and fly over your head. Maidenflight Overlook is a great place to practice, because the dog jumps have little invisible ramps on them to help the dog negotiate them.
Your dog will heel beautifully after a hoverpack. Get a string of dogs to heel after you on a hoverpack for a super cute image.
This one takes determination and practice: place two low ramps with the 90 degree side facing each other, then place an object (like a bench) on top of them to make a bridge. Tell your dog to heel and (you) run at the ramps. If you run close enough, the dog will go right up the ramp, across the bridge, and down the other side, all the while staring down at you in a really amusing way. This works on the Racekit obstaclettes with the banked turns, too.
If you face a sofa or bench and stand in just the right spot, you can bring the dog out of his doghouse and he'll land smack on the sofa. Tell him to sit immediately. It makes a great screenshot opportunity!
Managing Your Dog
- Dogs can wander off. To repossess your dog select My Things from the menu bar at the bottom of your screen and then select Dog > Retrieve and it will go back into the doghouse.
- If your dog finds itself alone, it will just hang out. Your dog may look around, take a nap, or look around for someone to play with. When your dog has been alone for a while, it will usually be pleased when a stranger approaches, and it will jump, bark excitedly, and run around.
- To put your dog away, move your cursor over it and click To Doghouse in its Action Tag.
- To give your dog to someone, select My Things from the menu bar at the bottom of your screen and then select Dog > Give. Select the member's name you want to give the dog to in the information window and click the Give button.
- To lend your dog to someone, select My Things > Dog > Lend. Choose the name of the person you want to lend the dog to in the information window and click the Lend button.
- If your dog is on loan, you can get it back by selecting the My Things > Dog > Retrieve.
- If you want to get rid of your dog permanently, select My Things > Dog > Return. You will be asked to confirm that you want to return your dog. WARNING! You will not be able to get your dog back if you complete this action.

*Note: When training and playing with your dogs, please keep in mind that the more dogs you have out in one area, the more resources you use. This can be a source of lag for both you and other members. If you experience performance issues when playing with a lot of dogs, you should put some of them away.
