In order to have a photo or picture displayed in your profile, you will first need to have a web hosting account at a service that allows what is called "Third Party Linking". TPL is something that allows a web server like what There uses to display profiles to show and link to images that are hosted on other accounts.
"Free" web hosting services like Geocities, Tripod, and Angelfire often do not allow Third Party Linking, and your image will not show up on your profile. Instead, you will see a little red 'X' where you expect your picture to be.
Once you have a web hosting service that allows Third Party Linking, you can take a screenshot and resize it or edit it until it's as close to 190 pixels wide and 135 pixels high as possible. If your image is not 190 x 135, it will be squished or stretched to fit. This can often look very humorous but is not usually useful.
Put that image in a place on your web account where it can be accessed, and then put the URL pointing to the image in your profile, then click on Apply Changes.
The URL given needs to point to the image itself, so it will end in .JPG, .PNG, or .GIF. URLs that end in .html will not display because that format is not a picture.
