Break out the popcorn and settle in for the shows. There avatars can now view videos and movies in-world!
There are three theaters in-world at The Atoll:
You can visit each zone's page to see scheduled showings and reserve your spot at video events.
Here are some technical tips for video viewing:
There currently operates in two modes, either OpenGL, or DirectX. In order to view videos and movies in There, you must be running DirectX 8.0 or higher.
Not sure which version you’re currently running? Just check the top of the There client window. It will say "There (OGL)" for OpenGL mode, or "There (DX8)" for DirectX mode. If it says OGL, you will need to switch to DirectX mode. Here’s how to manually set your rendering engine in There to DirectX mode:
1. Go to Start -> Programs -> There -> There Tweaker
2. Set Renderer to DX8 and apply changes.
3. You can also use the There Tweaker to change your There window size.
You should now be able to log in and view videos and movies in There. If you’re having trouble with the DirectX client, you may need to update your drivers. For information about updating the video drivers for your computer, please contact the company or person who made your computer for you, and ask for their assistance in locating and installing the latest video drivers.
At some point we will switch the default client from OpenGL to DirectX. If you prefer to use OpenGL, you may still do so by using Theretweaker to adjust your settings. However, please keep in mind that the OpenGL client will not run video and you will not be able to view movies in There.
