How to Host (Talk Show)
By: Mackie

You've decided that you want to host a Talk Show..    That's a great first step!  You can see how to schedule it in my "How To Host- Booking It" section

There are two stages currently available to do a Talk Show at: South Ridge Stage and Tiki Stage .  There... now. Go schedule it and we'll continue. You see that shiny button. Go ahead, click away ;)

Ok, I mentioned a timeline...

Let me give you an example here.. If you are familiar, I have hosted a few series of talk shows.. starting with "Moments with Mackie"  which soon evolved to the goofball weekly show where I invited Bamababydoll to be my cohost, the name changed to "Talkin' Back with Bama & Mack"  This show was always a full, standing room only event because for one, we are total goofs and never implied that we weren't.. The audience was usually a lot of regulars knowing that the show was every Sunday Night at 5:30 PDT, and that we would have certain items always on our agenda.. One could always count on much razzing between us hosts... Bama was known for her "Bite Me" where I would, of course, reply with a mighty "CHOMP"  *giggle* , ok back to topic at hand.. Along with the banter, we always took 15 minutes to greet the guests, get the people waiting out side the zone trying to get in VIP'ed so that we could start the event.  After 15 minutes, we would introduce our guest and then have a very relaxed interview.  I would then give the audience their chance to ask a few questions.

**Stage format... one chair and one sofa. There is room for three avies on stage. The Main host sits in the single chair while the co-host and guest sit on the sofa.  The difference in these seats is in the functionalities. The "host seat" can offer the mic to the audience so that they stand and everyone can read their chat bubbles. All you have to do is look at your tool bar for the action bar. If you arrive and sit and it does not show up, go to your main toolbar>people>action bar> and it will pop up. The audience seats have options too by popping up their action bar at all stages. Meeting" is the tab we want open at the stages.

For the "Bama & Mack" show I have a show producer, (CrystalShard aka CS) who would find the guests for me, and find out a few things to get preparations finished beforehand..

  1. CS would find the date the guest was available and inform me so I could schedule.
  2. CS would help with the direction of the interview by delving into why we should interview this guest.
  3. CS would find a topic for the trivia game. I always would do a game of Trivia each show based on a topic of interest of the guest.
  4. CS would inquire the guest to what There_Drink was their favorite so I could have these available for them and for the prizes to the trivia game. :D

After the game there was always a ‘lil time left to thank everyone for coming.. To give special thanks to the guest for coming and to the producer and co host.  If there was time I would give a mention of the next weeks show and ask the audience if there was anyone in particular they would like to have as a guest.

So.. the time line wrapped up is:

60 min show.

:15 greet and VIP those trying to get in

:10 interview from the hosts

:10 audience inquiries

:15 Trivia game

:10 Conclusion and Thanking for attending

Thats it. Done.  You CAN do this.
