PortaZone (PAZ) Set-Up Manual
Introduction
Are you looking to set up a party in There with your buddies? Interested in showing your wares at a yard sale? Searching for a place to call your own where you can build your dream home complete with a flower garden? Purchase a PortaZone in Shop Central and own a portable zone that you can decorate to your liking, and take with you wherever you want to go in There! This document offers a single resource for helpful step-by-step instructions and tips for everything you’ll need to know to get up and running with your very own PortaZone.
Basics
A PortaZone (PAZ) is a portable type of Real Estate Zone in There. The mobility of the Zone allows for seasonal living. PAZ owners can drop their PAZes on snow covered Frosty Island in the winter months and relocate to the south shores of Aurora Island to enjoy seaside living during the summer months. PAZes can be placed in any area in-world where dropping is allowed. Please read the Real Estate Placement Policies for information on guidelines to follow when searching for a place to drop your PAZ.
5 different sizes of PortaZones can be purchased in Shop Central.

To use a PAZ, you must first purchase one from Shop Central. When a new PAZ is purchased from Shop it comes pre-filled with 30 days worth of rent. You will be required to pay to refill the rent on the Zone when it has expired.
Once a PAZ is dropped in-world the rental meter starts to count down. If your PAZ meter drops down to zero minutes left the PAZ will automatically be returned to your inventory. You can refill your PAZ to extend its length of time in-world. Refills can be purchased in 1-day, 7-day, 14-day and 30-day increments. Please note, if you purchase a used PAZ from another member in Auctions be aware the price you pay for ownership of the Zone may not necessarily include time on the rental meter. Only PAZes purchased in Shop Central come with a guaranteed 30-days’ worth of pre-filled rent.
PAZes are not private and do not include Ignore permissions. This means that avatars standing outside of your PAZ can read your chat bubbles and hear voice chat. Please note that PAZ owners cannot change Zone Permissionsor set up Events in PAZes.
Types of PAZes
Five standard PAZes are currently available in Shop Central. There are several other types of retired PAZes that are no longer available in Shop. You can find the retired PAZes in Auctions for sale by other members.

Changing Your PortaZone Settings
The PAZ owner can change or update the PAZ Name, Environment and Weather at any time while logged into the 3-D Client.
The PAZ settings can be changed by going to the menu bar, choose This Place>Info about “Your PAZ”.
This Place PortaZone Description Page
In the Description tab, you can change the Name for your PortaZone. You can change the Environment Override to New Dawn, High Noon, Romantic Sunset, or Moonlit Night.

You can change the Weather Override to Rain, Snow or Thunderstorm. Remember to click Save Changes to update any information you have changed.
Decorating Your PortaZone
Now for the fun part! Now that you’ve gone through the process of purchasing your PAZ and finding a location to drop it, you can decorate the Zone with items from the Home and Garden category in Shop Central or in Auctions.
To change the look and feel of your PAZ go to This Place on your menu bar and click Show Action Tags.

Items such as furniture, decorations, ornaments and group seating deduct from your PAZes drop count. Because PAZes have a drop count limit, it is a good idea to budget the amount of items you drop in your Zone. For example, you can purchase a refrigerator (1 drop), a stove (1 drop), and kitchen cabinets (1 drop), which would add up to an amount of 3 drops. Some developers offer “1-drop” sets to help with drop budgeting, so you can purchase a “1-drop kitchen set” that contains all 3 items, saving yourself 2 drops. The drops you save can be used to furnish your PAZ with additional ornaments or knick-knacks.
There keeps track of your drop count automatically. To check how many drops you have left at any given time, visit your Zone and go to your Menu Bar > This Place > Gear. The amount of remaining drops will be displayed in the Gear menu.
Placing Items In Your PortaZone
There’s decorating tools let you find just the right place to put your items. The Take One Out command allows you to view the item and move it around to get a good idea of what it will look like in the space before you actually place or “drop” the item.

Real Estate Placement Policy
Real Estate placement options in There are relatively open-ended, allowing Zone owners to place structures in a wide variety of locations in-world. The Real Estate Placement Policies document provides guidelines for the proper placement of Real Estate structures in There, along with correct procedures for escalation of abuse and griefing incidents specifically related to Real Estate.
Intentional Real Estate abuse supersedes the Real Estate Placement Policy guidelines. The Abuse team will take the appropriate action to protect PortaZone (PAZ) owners who are clearly being griefed. There.com reserves the right to remove a PAZ from any location at any time with no prior notification. Members in violation of guidelines may be subject to further moderation.
The Real Estate Placement Policy is subject to change. Please check the policies document regularly for updates.
