As previously announced, we are in the midst of a major operating system and database upgrade for There.com. This process involves migrating all of our AvMan ("Avatar Manager") servers to the new system. We can complete the work on most of the AvMan servers without entirely shutting down the service. Usually, we will just need to bring down specific servers.

On Sunday night, November 30th, we will begin work on AvMan 9 and AvMan 18 at approximately 10 PM Pacific time.

AvMan 9 and AvMan 18 do contain avatar data. As a result, this will have an impact on some members. These servers will be offline during the maintenance period, so if your avatar's home is on one of these servers, you will be unable to log in.

It is also possible that other members whose avatars do not live on AvMan 9 or 18 will be affected. For example, if you have inventory items that live on these servers, you will be unable to access them during this period. (Note: there is no way for us to be able to tell you where your specific items are located on our servers. If you find that you are unable to use something in your inventory during this time, this maintenance work is the most likely cause.)

Only AvMan 9 and AvMan 18 will be taken offline, but we will restart the whole system if the work is completed before 3am Pacific.
