After more than a year of development, and months of testing, we are excited to be releasing the new developer submission and approval tools. These new tools provide a better developer submission system, which still starts with the painter and stylemaker tools that you've grown to love over the years. In addition, we have added support into this version that allows us to expand the developer tools to do even bigger and better things in the future.
You won't need to go somewhere new to access your submissions; they are still available via http://developer.prod.there.com/.
What the new tools do now:
1. A more robust system that handles your submission.
Submissions will now go through a system that was designed specifically for that purpose, rather than an existing system that we 'convinced' to handle submissions and approvals.
2. Better management tools for the submissions team.
The new system gives a lot more options to the approval team. As an added bonus, we gave them more than 256 characters for messaging.
3. Better visibility on the progress of submissions.
Via the new My Submissions page you can check the progress of your submission, and any messages that are related to that submission.
4. A replacement for email to allow more reliable communication.
All communication is handled via the Submissions page, so that you, and the submissions team all can see any communication about a submission, at any time. No more mail getting lost or sucked into spam filters!
5. An improved interface for managing developer products.
6. The ability to send comments along with a submission.
7. Sorting and pagination of submissions.
8. The elimination of the Saturday curse.
We have moved away from the server that... liked to sleep in on Saturdays. The developer system will no longer lock up on Saturdays, horray!
9. Compatibility with 3rd party tools such as jinXplorer.
Part of the testing of the new developer tools was to ensure that developers were able to use jinXplorer to list their items via the new tools. This means that developers who have a large number of submitted items will be able to list immediately, without waiting for an update to jinX.
How to navigate the My Submissions page:
- The Pending tab shows all submissions with a pending status
- The Approved tab shows all new submissions that have been approved but are not yet in world
- The Not Approved tab will show all new submissions that been rejected
- Clicking the top header links will sort by those columns
- To change the number of submissions on a page, change the drop down and click Go
We know that with this release, we are not 'DONE'. We have included the ability to evolve and expand further, making improvements as they become necessary. In addition to the features available today, the upgrade sets the stage for some of these features, which will be addressed in later releases:
1. Ability to cancel a submission from the website prior to processing.
2. Official process for appealing a rejection.
3. Visibility on the submission details.
4. More streamlined listing and ordering functions.
5. Integration with Fuze for technical issues.
6. Searching on submissions.
7. An official API for 3rd party tools such as jinXplorer.
