1.
What are Scion Developer Cars?
Scion and There.com have
worked together to bring three Scion vehicle models into There.com for a
limited time. For one year There.com member developers can customize virtual
vehicles based on the Scion tC, xB and xD models. The virtual templates have
the same shape and basic look as the real-world cars, but can be personalized
and customized with your own original look.
2. Do they work just like regular vehicles in
There?
Yes, the Scion Developer
Cars have the same functionality as other cars in There.com. They include a
driver's seat and 3 passenger seats. Scion car owners can drive their cars
anywhere driving is allowed in There. If you'd like to create your own Scion
car in There, you simply need to download the painter templates and submit your
designs using Previewer in the same manner as other vehicle painter templates.
3. Where can I find the painter templates for
Scion Developer Cars?
The templates are now
part of the regular Vehicle Painter tool, which is available here: http://developer.prod.there.com/developer/downloads.cgi
Please
note: if you have not created
and submitted an item in There before, you will be prompted to read and agree
to the Developer Agreement before you can proceed to the download page.
4. Can I resell my Scion Developer Car?
Yes, you can create and
sell as many Scion cars as you wish in accordance with There.com's standard
item sales process, with no fees due to Scion for the sale of your Scion Cars.
5. Are there any special rules and guidelines
that I need to keep in mind when creating my Scion car?
The most important thing
to keep in mind when creating your Scion Developer Car is that you should not
modify the Scion logo in any way. Each car model has 3 logos: 1 on the grill, 1
on the back trunk and 1 on the steering wheel. You should not resize, distort,
animate or add elements to these logos. Please see the Developer Agreement for
more information and details at http://developer.there.com/developer/developer_agreement.html
6. Since I'm using the Scion logo on my car,
can I put it on a t-shirt or some other item and sell that too?
No, the Scion logo can
only be used in association with the Scion Developer Cars. Only the three Scion
Developer Car templates will have the Scion logos, and the logos can be used
only with these templates. No logos may not be placed on other templates of any
type in There.com.
7. Okay, but can I use the name
"Scion" when naming my car? Can I put it in the product description?
Yes, you can use the
phrase "Scion" and the Scion model name (i.e. "Scion tC")
in your product name and description. Just make sure you're only using the
Scion name to refer to one of the Scion models. For example, you can't repaint
a buggy model and call it a Scion.
8. You said the Scion cars would only be
available for a limited time. How long will they be in There.com, and what
happens to the cars I've created after that?
The Scion Developer Car
templates will be available for one year. We will accept submissions for up to
one year from the date of the product release. Any Scion cars that you create
and submit during this one-year time period will forever remain as part of There.com.
In other words, already existing cars will not disappear after the year is up.
However you will no longer be able to create new Scion Developer Cars after
that.
